Master Specialization: Human-Computer Interaction [Will not be open in 2024/2025]

Graduates will gain a deep understanding of the interaction between man and computer systems. They will acquire a range of methods and techniques in accordance with the standard UCD (ISO 9241-210) for efficient design and user interface development. They learn to analyze human-computer interaction from different perspectives: software development, ergonomics, visual and interaction design, technology used and the psychological aspects (eg. The user experience, acceptance, satisfaction, cognitive load, the issue of trust).

Graduates will find particular application in software companies that develop products in a highly competitive environment such as enterprise systems or mobile applications, or in companies developing complex systems requiring complex and unusual interaction with humans. An example may be interfaces to complex analytical tools, machines and autonomous systems, and collaborative systems.

Another potential application is the design of electronic communication with government agencies and authorities (e-government), especially with regard to elderly or disabled users.

Why study HCI?

Research in the field of computer science (computer science) brought people to the incredible advances in information and communication technologies, robotics, automation, smart digital assistants, etc.

Contact Human-Computer (HCI - Human-computer interaction) as one of the disciplines of computer science focuses on the interaction between the man in the role of the user and interactive computer system. With the increasing power and complexity of information and communication technologies HCI design becomes indispensable for the successful deployment of products and services based on computer technology. This is reflected in the rapid increase in the number of jobs requiring skills in the field of HCI. These positions are typically called UX Designer, UX Researcher UX Manager and Information Architect.

Impact of computers on human behavior, especially in the last 15 years very significant. As in other cases, people use computers to profit or we may have a negative effect computers [Manfred Spitzer: Digitale Demenz, 2012].

Designers of computer systems are fully accountable for the impact of these systems on people. We will help you to understand the fascinating world of human interaction with computers. Choosing a responsible path is up to you.

Cooperation with industry

During their studies, students will be in close contact with industry through the semester work and their thesis that normally share with industrial partners.

Our department has in HCl / UX leading position in the Czech Republic. In cooperation with Sun Microsystems, we have built the first laboratory for usability testing in the Czech Republic. We are also co-founders of the Association UX. We cooperate with company IBM.
